What is an MOT?
An annual test of roadworthiness and emissions required for most vehicles over three years old. It checks the vehicle against legal standards on the day of the test. Official rules are published on GOV.UK.
What it checks
- Brakes, steering and suspension
- Tyres, wheels and lights
- Seatbelts, seats and visibility
- Body, structure and corrosion
- Exhaust, emissions and noise
MOT versus service
An MOT is a legal inspection; a service is maintenance — oil, filters, fluids and wear checks. They’re different, and many owners book both together. If issues are identified during the MOT, we explain them and quote before any repair, and can carry out most repairs on site.
