Vehicle Health Checks in Sunbury-on-Thames

A health check gives you an honest picture of your car’s condition without committing to a full service. It’s useful before a long trip, after a car has been parked for months, or when you simply want to plan upcoming costs.

We put the vehicle on a ramp, inspect the key systems and give you a clear summary — what’s fine, what to watch, and what needs attention now.

What a health check is — and isn’t

A health check is an inspection, not a service: we don’t replace fluids or filters unless you ask. It’s also different to an MOT, which is a legal roadworthiness test with set criteria.

Think of it as a planning tool — we highlight wear before it becomes a failure or an expensive surprise.

What we check

  • Brake pads, discs and fluid
  • Tyre tread, condition and ages
  • Suspension and steering components
  • Fluid levels and leaks
  • 12V battery health and charging
  • Lights, wipers and visibility
  • Stored fault codes on request

What we can do

  • Pre-journey checks
  • Checks after long storage
  • Seasonal checks
  • Written summary of findings with photos where appropriate

FAQs

Vehicle Health Checks: your questions answered

What is included in a vehicle health check?

A ramp-based inspection of brakes, tyres, suspension, steering, fluids, leaks, battery, lights and visibility, with a summary of findings.

Is a health check the same as an MOT?

No. An MOT is a legal test with defined criteria. A health check is an advisory inspection to help you plan maintenance.

Should I have my car checked before a long journey?

It’s sensible, particularly if the car is due a service or you’ve noticed anything unusual. Tyres, brakes and fluids are the priorities.

Can you check a car that has been parked for a long time?

Yes. Stored cars can develop flat batteries, seized brakes, flat-spotted tyres and degraded fluids. We’ll check these before it goes back into use.

Can you identify work that may be needed soon?

Yes — that’s one of the main purposes. We’ll separate urgent items from things to budget for.
