DPF Diagnostics & Cleaning in Sunbury-on-Thames
A diesel particulate filter traps soot and burns it off through regeneration. When regeneration doesn’t happen often enough, or something upstream produces excess soot, the filter blocks and a warning appears.
We diagnose why the DPF is loading, clean or regenerate it where appropriate, and fix the underlying cause so the problem doesn’t simply return.

Common signs
Symptoms worth checking
- DPF warning light
- Loss of power or limp mode
- Frequent regenerations (fans running after switch-off)
- Rising oil level from post-injection dilution
Why DPFs block
Short journeys prevent passive regeneration. Faulty pressure sensors, temperature sensors, injectors, EGR faults or turbo oil consumption can all overload the filter.
Forced regeneration or cleaning can clear soot, but if the cause isn’t fixed, it will block again.

FAQs
DPF Diagnostics & Cleaning: your questions answered
Why has my DPF warning light come on?
The filter is loaded with soot and needs regeneration, or a sensor or related fault is preventing it.
What causes a DPF to become blocked?
Short journeys, sensor faults, injector or EGR problems and oil consumption.
Can a blocked DPF cause loss of power?
Yes — the car may enter limp mode to protect the engine.
Can you clean and diagnose DPF systems?
Yes.
Why does a DPF problem sometimes return after regeneration?
Because the underlying cause hasn’t been fixed.
Do you remove or delete DPF systems?
No. The Factory diagnoses and repairs emissions systems legitimately and does not remove, delete or code out emissions equipment.
