Vehicle Diagnostics in Sunbury-on-Thames

A fault code tells you which system noticed a problem — not necessarily what caused it. Proper diagnosis means reading live data, testing components and wiring, and confirming the root cause before parts are replaced.

We use dealer-level diagnostic equipment, including BMW ISTA, Bosch, Autel, Snap-on and manufacturer-specific systems where appropriate, on all makes and models including hybrids and EVs.

Common signs

Symptoms worth checking

  • Engine management or other warning lights
  • Limp mode or reduced power
  • Intermittent electrical faults
  • Rough running or hesitation
  • Messages on the dashboard you can’t explain

Why a code read isn’t a diagnosis

A sensor reporting a lean mixture, for example, could be caused by an air leak, a fuel delivery issue or the sensor itself. Replacing the part named in the code often doesn’t fix the car.

We combine scan data with physical testing — measurements, smoke testing, pressure checks and inspection — to find the real fault, then explain what we found and what it will take to repair.

What we check

  • Stored and pending fault codes across all modules
  • Live data and freeze-frame information
  • Wiring, connectors and grounds
  • Component testing with meters and scopes
  • Software and coding status where relevant

What we can do

  • Warning light diagnosis
  • Intermittent and electrical fault finding
  • Running and performance diagnostics
  • Hybrid and EV system diagnostics
  • Repair once the cause is confirmed

FAQs

Vehicle Diagnostics: your questions answered

What does a diagnostic test actually tell you?

The scan shows which systems have logged faults and gives live data. The diagnostic work that follows — testing and inspection — tells us why, so the correct repair can be made.

Can you diagnose an engine warning light?

Yes. An engine light can relate to anything from a sensor to a mechanical fault. We read the codes, review data and test to confirm the cause.

Can you diagnose intermittent electrical faults?

Yes, though intermittent faults can take longer. Details of when it happens — temperature, weather, speed — help us reproduce it.

Do you have dealer-level diagnostic equipment?

Yes. We use BMW ISTA, Bosch, Autel, Snap-on and manufacturer-specific systems where appropriate.

Can you diagnose BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles?

Yes. These are key specialisms, and the workshop is led by a Master Technician with BMW and JLR training.

Can you diagnose hybrid and EV faults?

Yes. Our team is trained and qualified to work on hybrid and electric vehicles, including high-voltage system diagnostics.
