Engine Repairs in Sunbury-on-Thames

Engine faults range from a failing coil to internal mechanical wear. Getting the diagnosis right is what separates an efficient repair from a series of expensive guesses.

We diagnose and repair engines on all makes and models, with particular depth on BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover.

Safety first: If the engine is overheating, knocking heavily or the oil warning is on, stop driving and contact us.

Common signs

Symptoms worth checking

  • Misfire, shaking or rough idle
  • Engine warning light or limp mode
  • Loss of power
  • Oil or coolant consumption

Finding the cause before replacing parts

A misfire could be ignition, fuel, air or mechanical. We use fault data, compression and leak-down testing, smoke testing and inspection to narrow the cause.

FAQs

Engine Repairs: your questions answered

Why is my engine misfiring?

Common causes include ignition coils, spark plugs, injectors, air leaks or mechanical issues such as low compression. Diagnosis confirms which.

What should I do if my engine warning light comes on?

If it’s flashing or the car is running badly, reduce load and stop when safe. If it’s steady and the car drives normally, book a diagnostic soon.

Can you diagnose low compression or poor running?

Yes — through compression and leak-down testing alongside data analysis.

Why is my engine using oil or coolant?

Possible causes include leaks, worn seals or rings, turbo issues, or head gasket faults. We test to find which.

Can you repair major engine faults without replacing the entire engine?

Often, yes. Where a targeted repair or rebuild is the better option, we’ll explain why.
