EGR Diagnostics & Repairs in Sunbury-on-Thames

The exhaust gas recirculation system feeds a controlled amount of exhaust back into the intake to reduce NOx emissions. Carbon build-up and sticking valves are common, especially on diesels.

We diagnose EGR faults and repair them correctly.

Common signs

Symptoms worth checking

  • Engine warning light
  • Hesitation or poor performance
  • Rough idle
  • Black smoke
  • Coolant loss on engines with EGR coolers

What an EGR valve does

By lowering combustion temperatures, EGR reduces NOx. If the valve sticks open or closed, or the cooler leaks, running and emissions suffer.

Cleaning can help in some cases; replacement is needed in others.
