What Does a DPF Warning Light Mean?
By The Factory Technical Team
A DPF warning means the filter is loaded with soot and needs to regenerate — or a fault is stopping it. If it persists, diagnosis is needed.
The short answer
The diesel particulate filter is full enough that it needs to burn off soot. Sometimes a sustained drive allows this; check your handbook for the manufacturer’s advice.
Why it keeps coming back
Short journeys, sensor faults, injector or EGR problems, or oil consumption can all overload the filter repeatedly.
What diagnosis involves
Reading soot load and sensor data, checking upstream engine faults and, if appropriate, forcing a regeneration or cleaning the filter.
What we don’t do
The Factory does not remove or delete DPFs. We diagnose and repair the system legitimately.
